My Approach

My approach focuses on the development of insight and awareness that will allow you to address underlying psychological issues, such as unhelpful patterns and internalized messages, within the context of a safe accepting relationship. I combine this exploration with collaborative, action-oriented goal setting and techniques designed to provide relief from the symptoms that you identify as being challenging in your life. Working to identify and tap into one’s personal resources and strengths is a transforming experience. My goal is to help empower you to choose your own direction in life and to act in accordance with your deepest needs and desires for wellbeing.

As a therapist, I believe it is important to maintain a fresh, optimistic approach while helping to create a calm, accepting atmosphere when caring for people – those in distress, as well as those who simply want to explore their lives in a deeper more meaningful way. My life experience and clinical background have developed my ability to work in many different modalities and to tailor my approach to harness the strengths of each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with individuals to help them build on these strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to achieving. This will require active effort on your part – you will have to work on things we talk about, both during sessions and at home, for therapy to be most successful.

At our initial meeting we can talk about your concerns and work together to decide if I am the right fit for you. If not, I will provide you with referrals to other therapists who may better suit your needs. Either way, my goal is to help you start on your path to healing.
